What makes us different?
Freedom Women’s Center of
Teen Challenge Monterey Bay is a 13-month
minimum residential Christian Discipleship
Program for women with life controlling
issues ages 18 and over.
The women who come into our
center are called students as they learn to
be more like Jesus Christ each day and learn
how to live, deal with trials and
tribulations, inconveniences and
disappointments
drugs and alcohol free! They learn more
about God each day through Chapel services
throughout the week, Bible Studies, Group
Studies, and Individualized Personal Studies
for New Christians (aka Curriculum),
interactions with staff, volunteers, and
their fellow students.
Are you a shelter?
NO! We are neither a shelter
nor just a recovery program. We believe
that our students are called to be in this
program and it takes commitment to succeed
in it.
I know someone who could
use a program and Teen Challenge sounds like
a good fit.
The best thing you could do
for this person is pray for them and give
them our number for her to call us.
Oftentimes, the loved ones and well meaning
friends do all the work and the one who
needs the help won’t make the commitment to
be in the program.
Why is it so difficult?
What makes it work?
Imagine being uprooted from
all your family and friends and everything
you’re used to, then being planted with a
group of strangers with all kinds of issues
and legal backgrounds, different
personalities, likes and dislikes. You live,
laugh, and study with them. You have issues,
and so do the people next to your bunk bed.
You learn to die to your old self and live
for Jesus Christ. You learn how to control
your impulsive tendencies;
love, pray for/with and encourage one
another
even though your sisters (other students)
are driving you crazy. You have to wake up
everyday (except weekends) at 6am and go to
bed at 10pm. You can’t just do whatever you
want when you want to. You learn how to obey
rules and understand why there are rules.
You take classes like Attitudes, Anger,
Obedience to God, and
Obedience to Man.
For over a year,
you will have limited contact with your
family and friends. You will learn to keep
things in perspective
when everything else seems to fall apart.
You will learn forgiveness
and love like you might have never known
before.

Typically, you will be asked to complete the
4-6 weeks of the program in Yuba City and
then you will be transferred back here in
Freedom. Just call us and we will pray and
